African Presences: Envisioning Africa in Text and Deed
This is a call for full panels that will be submitted for consideration as Women’s Caucus sponsored panels at the African Studies Association Annual Meeting.
To help panelists find each other and assemble panels, please participate in the
ASA Women's Caucus Message Board
We welcome organized panels from scholars representing all disciplinary and interdisciplinary backgrounds. The Women’s Caucus can sponsor several panels, but only one panel will be exempted from the review process. The remaining panels will go through formal review by ASA. All accepted panels will appear in the program as “Sponsored by the ASA Women’s Caucus." Upon acceptance, all panel participants will need to pre-register for the conference by ASA’s deadline, April 2nd, to be included in the conference program.
Each panel shall have 1 chair, no more than 4 presenters, and 1 discussant. All panelists must be Women's Caucus members. The proposal should include: the panel title and abstract of no more than 250 words; name, email address, phone number, and institutional affiliation for each participant; and the title and abstract for each paper.
If you would like to submit a panel proposal or have any questions, please contact Patience Akpan-Obong (patience.Akpan@asu.edu), chair of the Women’s Caucus Annual Meeting Panels Committee.
Read ASA's full text of the 2023 CFP theme, read the 2023 submission guidelines, and register for the conference and join or renew your Women’s Caucus membership.
